M13 // Hercules Globular Cluster

another very interesting and bright object, m13, also called the hercules globular
cluster, discovered by edmond halley in 1714, and catalogued by charles messier
on June 1, 1764. m13 is about 25.000 lightyears away and has a radius of 145ly.
m13 features several hundred thousand stars. the arecibo message of 1974,
designed to communicate the existence of human life to extraterrestrials,
was transmitted into the direction of m13. heres my shot into its direction:

M11 // Open Cluster

the wild duck cluster was discovered by gottfried kirch in 1681. charles messier
included it in his catalogue in 1764. m11 is one of the richest and most compact of
the known open clusters, containing about 2900 stars. its age has been estimated
to about 220 million years. Its name derives from the brighter stars forming a
triangle which could represent a flying flock of ducks. here is my image:
